Grand balls are the stuff of fairytales and legends. Courtly gentlemen gracefully dancing with beautiful women in dazzling clothes, partaking of sumptuous repasts and drink, in the rarified atmosphere of exquisitely decorated country estates…. Now, of course, any ol’ throwdown can be referred to as a “ball,” but very few can even approach these legends. The Dallas Museum of Art is among the few non-profits with enough cojones to call their event a ball… and what a ball it is!
Chaired by Ann and David Sutherland (aren't they a formidable social force to reckon with!), the theme of DMA’s Art Ball 2016 is Art+Architecture, something the museum takes very seriously, and does very well. Stroll down the concourse courtesy of Red Carpet Sponsor Neiman-Marcus and enjoy a multi-course seated dinner presented by Menu
Sponsor Bank of America. The live auction will be curated by interior architectural designer Trisha Wilson, and conducted by Luxury Auction Sponsor Christie’s. Guests will also enjoy a special silent auction chaired by Gonzalo Bueno.
Art Ball has raised more than $22 million in its 15 year history, supporting DMA's mission of engaging and educating the community, with funds going directly to the Museum's operating budget. In 2015 alone, DMA’s ball raised $2.4 million, and its 2016 event has every intention of meeting or beating that figure. Following the event is the official after-party, Folly at the Art Ball. The Dallas Museum of Art’s 2016 Art Ball is Saturday, April 23, at the museum. For tickets and other information about Art Ball 2016, go to www.dma.org.
