FASHION GROUP INTERNATIONAL OF DALLAS will host its annual “Night of Stars” industry awards gala on November 13 at 7 p.m at Fashion Industry Gallery (FIG) on Ross Avenue. DALLAS' most influential names will no doubt attend the star-studded industry gala and runway show by international designer, Prabal Gurung.
Gurung is no stranger to the Dallas fashion scene. He was recently in town for AMFAR’s Two x Two gala hosted by Cindy and Howard Rachofsky in their grand Preston Hollow home. He posted an Instagram photograph with fellow fashion friends Tina Craig from Bag Snob, Jeremy Scott from Moschino, international fashionista Nasiba Adilova from Buro 24/7, Shoe Designer AquazurraPeter Pilotto.
Gurung will receive the “Career Achievement in Fashion Award”. He began his career at New Delhi’s institute of Fashion Technology where he designed for various local production houses. His breakthrough came when he moved to New York to attend the Parsons New School for Deign. He interned for Donna Karan, of all people!. He earned the “Best Designer Award” at the Fashion Institute of Techonology. In 2010 he received the “Ecco Domain Fund Award” and was the recipient of the CFDA’s “Swarovski Award” for womenswear.
Gurung has been featured in the top fashion publications and has dressed some of the world’s most prominent women-- Oprah Winfrey, Jennifer Lawrence, Sarah Jessica Parker, Michelle Obama, and the list goes on.
“Not only is Prabal Gurung an influential designer in today’s fashion world, he also has a strong
commitment to make a difference in the global community. We are thrilled to be honoring such a talented designer who has also made a significant difference in the lives of others.” said Chuck Steelman, Regional Director of FGI of Dallas.
Additional Honorees that night will include actress Morgan Fairchild, arts supporter Nancy Carlson, NorthPark Center’s Nancy A. Nasher, and furniture designer David Sutherland. Proceeds from the event fund FGI of Dallas’ foundation scholarships. This past April, FGI of Dallas presented over $45,000 in cash scholarships and prizes to 16 college students.
