FLYING ON THE WINGS OF LOVE

Yes, yes, I know the PEGASUS BALL was weeks ago - but sometimes I just need a little time to say what I really want to say… The ball, held at the glamourous FAIRMONT HOTEL recently, was a bit of an oddity - considering it just celebrated its 27th anniversary - it is really a FORT WORTH ball that was held in DALLAS. The Pegasus Ball is a grand fundraiser for the BOBBY NORRIS ROUND UP FOR AUTISM (roundupforautism.org), benefitting the AUTISM TREATMENT CENTERS OF TEXAS... With the theme of A GATSBY AFFAIR, and emceed by CBS11 News Anchor KALEY O’KELLEY, the affair got off to on a running start as high-powered introductions were made and Executive Director GINA MARKS, splendid in her 20s finery, ruled the night with astounding energy, organization and charm. She works the room as the pro that she is, greeting everyone from mousy little media types like me, to Dallas’ social Grande Dame, the lovely YVONNE CRUM who graced the event with her influential presence (her big event is the 10TH ANNUAL FASHION STARS FOR A CAUSE, coming up on Monday, October 19. We’ll keep you posted on that soiree)…

Named one of the TOP 5 HAUTE EVENTS, the Pegasus Ball is the largest event in the state that benefits autism, in general, but specifically the ATC... Founder BOBBY NORRIS spoke eloquently to the large crowd, outlining the incredible work the ATC does, and how many people it serves. Speaking of a lot of people serving, SHARON and STEVE FOLSOM the honorary chairmen, spoke, as did a number of other notables… Special mentions to DARIN PREJEAN and BROOKE HAYES my co-chairs. (And Gina thanks her adorable husband DAVID MARX for all his help and support and producing their new video)...

...My favorite guest was the indomitable MARY BENTLEY, resplendent in her

BINZARIO COUTURE black gown (she later changed into the white-on-white dress that Binzario donated for the live auction). She has sort of adopted me and I find her fascinating and dynamic. Of course, you can’t mention fascinating and dynamic without mentioning Binzario Couture’s ANDRE YABIN and LUIS NAZARIO. They’re my NBFs (next best friends), and all four of us had a faaabulous time...

...One of my favorite new friends is SHAI BERRY, from Breckenridge. I was sitting at my table and glanced towards the back of the room and there was this woman… what was it about her? It wasn’t just the face, the dress, or the hair - it was her hauteur. Alone, she made her way across the ballroom as if she were walking on air. Self-possessed, confident, and with a gorgeous smile, she was the entire package. A partner and Director of , Promotions and Public Relations for RISING STAR ENTERTAINMENT NETWORK, her escort was her business partner JACKIE BIBBY, "THE TEXAS SNAKE MAN" (he holds 5 GUINESS world records). This was her first Pegasus Ball and she has a huge interest in Autism. I have several family members and friends blessed with autistic children…

My friend JESSE NELSON was also a first-timer at the Pegasus ball. A broker for MANNHEIM AUCTIONS Dallas, his goal is to employ autistic persons for his workforce. Jesse was there with his glamorous and faaabulous wife BROOKE NELSON, a stylist at the TRUNK CLUB

...Escorted by FASHIONSCOOP.COM’s publisher PEDRO ALCANTARA, I thought the event was a riot of fun with the scrumptious dinner by the Fairmont chefs, live and silent auctions, casino tables, live music, dancing, an all night open bar, wine with dinner, photo booth with 1920's antique car, whiskey tastings by Salado whiskey, and a champagne luge ice sculpture.
