Pearls + Talons is my clothing label co-designed with Jennifer de Socarraz-Fleming. The journey started with us both wanted to design a line of minimalistic apparel rooted by our deep passion in fashion, and on the fact that we have been working together for a few years on creating successful business programs for The Fashion International of Dallas’ membership. When you know how each other works, the venture starts.
I have been working in the apparel industry for 14+ years creating brands: actual brands with actual products to show. I can orchestrate a concept in my mind, through my sleep at times. I can confidently say I know the process from patterning to production like nobody else in the USA. Many people are experts of one of the components but my operation at InStyle Exchange (the American Manufacturing Hub) offers an integrated process from sourcing to actual sewing the products within one facility. I know every stitch, every detail and I know the DNA of each brand with which I have been involved.
It is one thing to have your collection ready in actual garments but visually the collection needs its magic. To curate the looks require a team of magicians. Jhonatan Arreola, publisher of Fashion Scoop, bravely agreed to a photoshoot of the milan.it collection at Fashion Scoop’s studio on Main Street. The studio’s in a high rise overlooking the whole downtown Dallas. We set up, getting our model Anna ready. Jamie worked her magic creating the make up we want while Megan prepared to style the clothes. Pedro and I tested the lighting. I hate being in front of the camera but I did not mind standing in that afternoon because lightings are so important to great photographs.
Anna is a natural talent, the clothes came to live on her! That’s magic in the making, the moment was captured in frames as our photographer clicked on the shutter away.
