ARTISTIX S/S 2017

EQUALITY BY GREG POLISSENI

ARTISTIX, an imaginative new brand of men’s clothing, presented its 2017 Spring/Summer Collection at New York Fashion Week: Men’s. Inspired by its creator’s abstract “Equality” paintings, the clothing is a fusion of worker chic with Art-on-the-NYC-streets. Vibe is clearly Rock & Roll, but with an artistic approach. Each look incorporated hand-printed and hand-painted patterns that mirror Greg Polisseni’s original paintings.

Greg Polisseni, the founder and creator of ARTISTIX collection, is an artist who broadened his creative output into the realm of clothing design. The goal of the brand is to bring a fun, edgy, and distinctive vibe to the clothing, and offer customers a chance to select elements that suit their personal style.

We see a variety of looks, ranging from traditional blazers to coveralls, as well as an offering of underwear and tees. The conscious choice of black and white coloration speaks to the allusion of canvas. The artistry comes in the application of pattern. I particularly liked black and white leather jackets with hand-applied abstract painting in contrasting white/black, gray and turquois. These are true statement pieces, wearable art expressions, none less.

Andy Hilfiger, brother of Tommy Hilfiger, is propelling the collection. He was the power behind such successful launches as JLo brand, and Nikki Minaj and Adam Levine brands. Now serving as Fashion Director for ARTISTIX, Andy brings 35 years of fashion experience to help guide this new venture.
