In North America, Christmas Holiday and The New Year Eve festivities are around the corner. We are in the busy season of fund raisers and glamorous events, and then Spring will dawn and we will be ready to embrace the colorful choices off the runway.
Indian-born and New York based designer Bibhu Mohapatra’s Spring/Summer 2017 Collection is filled with cheerful colors and patterns with a touch of class. There are no over the top statement pieces, the collection is well edited and crafted with feminine details. I love the fit and flare silhouettes as much as the lean styles with bustiers. A touch of shine but not glittery, stripes and embroidered patterns are mixed in together in great shapes that accentuate the body will make women look their best in all occasions. As a minimalist myself I actually love every piece that I am seeing in Mohapatra’s collection.
Hey, Spring, I cannot wait to welcome you this March in one of the dresses by Mohapatra. After this week of strange events in the political scene, tea time seems to be the best cure for melancholy. Mohapatra brings us a sense of optimism in off-shoulder midi-length dresses. The dotted chiffon dress is like dipping-dots ice-cream in a cone. The sheer ball-gown with metallic bodice is a feminist’ armour. The ethereal dress with silver leaves reminds you of a Hollywood princess or a Bollywood seductress. My favorite look is the peach colored embroidered top with the black and white pants, you can mix and match unexpected elements, we call that style.
This is why I love fashion. Fashion transcends all ages and races. Fashion has always been empowering. A well made garment makes you feel completely confident, deep into your skin.
