ENDLESS SUMMER: DAVID HART SPRING/SUMMER 2017

Youth, Sand, and Waves at David Hart S/S 2017

Surf culture of the 1960’s came to life on the runway at the New York Spring/Summer 2017 Mens Fashion Week. Designer David Hart presented a collection that spoke the language of youth, sand, and the waves. The casual looks, as well as the formal ensembles exhibited the irreverence associated with the spirit of the surf culture.

Relaxed and stylish outfits evoke the images of the past captured by LeRoy Grannis, yet re-envisioned in the distinctly contemporary aesthetic. Even the suits of the collection would not be out of place on the beach. I loved the beautiful palette that incorporated earthy jewel tones and toned-down surf prints. Bright-colored polo shirts paired with knee-length shorts and linen suits permeated the collection.

The most unusual combination was of a tuxedo suit pairing with flip-flops. As unexpected, as it may be – somehow it worked. I wouldn’t mind spending a few days with these guys. They looked like so much fun. California is calling.
