Private Policy Spring/Summer 2017 #NYFWM
Private Policy Spring/Summer 2017 presentation is another explosive attempt to express social issues through the Art of Fashion. Since the first capsule collection of S/S 2016, the young brand forcefully came on the scene, with its looks appearing in such publications as Vogue Italia and Hyperbeast. In this short period of time the brand made a real splash. It is all about colorful personality, uniqueness, and the rebellious heart.
The collection is inspired by the tragic stories of Asian fishermen, used as slave labor in Southeastern Asia fishing industry, where fishermen are forced to work on the ocean for years without a break by the fear of violent punishment and murder. The presentation explores the horror of slavery and forced labor. It employs symbols of imprisonment, restriction, and pain in its designs. The collection is an emotional homage to the private experiences of the fishermen conveyed through the application of harnesses for constriction, plastics for container allusions, and striped pieces to represent imprisonment.
Private Policy’s garment vocabulary of color, texture, pattern, and silhouette breaks the boundaries between high fashion, youth wear, and the notion of social rebellion. It is a truly artistic expression of the young talent.
The presentation took place at Industria Superstudios in New York on July 11, 2016. Footwear sponsored by Vans. Hair and Make up styled by Oribe and Minerals Black Tie.
